About The Oilers

The Lenoir Oilers are sponsored by Caldwell Baseball, Inc., a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote baseball in the local area among all age groups and to allow college players a chance to improve their skills by playing against the best competition in order to reach their ultimate goal of a professional baseball career. We believe baseball is a family sport that can be enjoyed by all ages.

The Lenoir Oilers program was formed in 1953 and took on such names as the Broyhill Chiefs and Lenoir Furniture Kings before returning to the Oilers name. The program has won over 35 state and national tournaments over the years. In 1999, the Oilers were a founding member of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League. All players must have college eligibility left in order to compete in the wood bat league. Each summer, players from all over the United States and foreign countries come to the 12-team league to showcase and improve their skills in search of a professional baseball career. The Oilers are sanctioned by both major league baseball and the NCAA.

The Oilers play their home games in Lenoir, NC at Walker Stadium named for the former major leaguers Rube and Verlon Walker. Many former players have gone on to sign professional contracts and the future looks even brighter. Come out and see the future stars of tomorrow and experience wood bat baseball in the nation’s playground for summer collegiate baseball. Lenoir Oilers’ fever – catch it!
